Statement checking made easy

Brokers love to send lots of statements. Every day you place a trade you will get a statement in the mail the next day. Checking these statements is time consuming without the right software. The Margin Account Calculator makes it easy. In my own trading I would frequently glance at the statement, assume it was OK and file it away. That’s all right until an error crops up that you let slip by unnoticed. This happened to me once, before I created The Margin Account Calculator - I thought I was long in the gold market but my broker had sold gold when I wanted to buy! Needless to say I didn't notice this on my statement until it was too late. It took me a lot of time to resolve the problem with my broker. This no longer happens because now I check all of my statements, as soon as they arrive, in next to no time.

Why do you need software to track your trades?

If you don’t have a dedicated program to record your trading, you're probably using paper and calculator or perhaps a simple spreadsheet to record your trading data. If so then you're not getting all the information that you need to be successful in today’s financial marketplace. The Margin Account Calculator was designed specifically to cater for the needs of the individual trader, no matter how large or small the trading account, or how frequently you trade.

Databases In Trade Software

A database may be described as a ‘pool’ of data, which can be used by any number of applications. The software that runs the database is called the database management system (DBMS). A database is a collection or ‘pool’ of data structured so that it may serve a number of applications. The range of applications which make use of a database vary widely, depending on what data is held on the database files.

Integrated Trade Software

Each module may be integrated with the others, so that data entered in one module will be passed automatically or by simple operator request through into nay other module where the data is of some relevance. For example, if there is an input into the invoicing module authorizing the dispatch of an invoice to a customer, there might be automatic links. To the sales ledger, to update the file by posting the invoice to the customer’s account.

Accounting Modules In Trade Software

An accounting package will consist of several modules. A simple accounting package might consist of only one module (in which case it is called a stand-alone module), but more often it will consist of several modules. The name given to a set of several modules is a suite. An accounting package, therefore, might have separate modules for invoicing, stock, sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, payroll, cash book, fixed asset register, report generator.

Advantages of Accounting Packages

The packages can be used by non-specialists as use of codes for input means that correct accounts will be updated. A large amount of data can be processed very quickly. Computerized systems are more accurate than manual systems. A computer is capable of handling and processing large volumes of data. The ability to integrate systems or modules prevents wasteful repetition as one entry may update several records. Once the data has been input, computerized systems can analyze data rapidly to present useful control information for managers such as a trail balance or a debtor’s schedule.

Accounting Packages In Trade Software

Accounting packages are collections of computer programs or software designed to carry out specific accounting tasks. They may be customized or bought ‘of-the-shelf’. An accounting suite is a set of accounting modules or programs. Examples of accounting packages are packages for payroll, sales and purchase ledger packages and fixed assets register. When a user begins to work with an accounting package he or she will usually be asked to key in a password. Separate passwords can be used for different parts of the system, for example for different ledgers if required. This prevents access by unauthorized personnel

Introduction of Trade Software

These days’ most accounting systems are computerized. Bangladesh has also tried most accounting systems are computerizing. Hence, a sound knowledge of computer applications in accounting is varying important, even for a beginner. While using a computer package does require a certain level of specialist knowledge about the unique characteristics of the system, the good news is that the principles of computerized accounting are the same as those of manual accounting. Even the accounting functions retain the same names in computerized systems as in more traditional written records. Introducing you to accounting packages and then it takes a somewhat detailed look at the operation of the programs available to deal individually with the various parts of the accounting system such as the sales ledger, purchase ledger etc. A modern computer generally consists of a keyboard, a television-like screen, a box –like disk drive which contains all the necessary electronic components for data processing, and a printer. This is the computer hardware. Computer programs are the instructions that tell the electronics how to process data. The general term used for these is software. Software is what we are concerned with in this text.
